Ubisoft didn’t forget about The Prince of Persia, it’s now a Virtual Reality Escape Room

If you’re like me you’ve logged a ton of hours playing the Prince of Persia from the 90s to the 2000s, and it’s finally making a long awaited return. But this continuation to the story may not be what you expected.

Persia’s most agile prince will be making his comeback this spring after the title remained dormant for over a decade, and Ubisoft has done a pretty good job of ignoring this fan favorite franchise, but after a long absence it’s not exactly the news we were expecting about it.

It’s called Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time and it’s a virtual reality escape room which takes place within the original trilogy and the idea of the game is to manipulate the world around you to figure out how to escape. All the original elements are in place, you can rewind, pause, and fast-forward time which is the key feature to figuring out the games puzzles. Ubisoft has even said that there will be some climbing mechanics as well as sword fighting, and a new character named Kaileena.

The Dagger of Time is designed to accommodate up to four players, but less can play at a time. They game and puzzles will change based on the amount of players that have entered into the game, which stressed players needing to work together to make sure everyone gets involved.

This is Ubisoft Studios third attempt at trying to adapt one of their titles into a virtual reality experience. The last couple attempts they made were based around their Assassin’s Creed franchise. Now, in all actuality, the game is probably going to be good, even if it’s a virtual reality escape room. However, this does give us hope that they will be coming out with a new Prince of Persia game, eventually. I’ll just keep holding my breath until further notice.
